“No Depression” is an all-encompassing roots music website featuring news, reviews, media and articles about roots and Americana music from around the globe. “No Depression” was founded in 1995 as a print publication, and made the transition to online digital publication in 2009. In 2014, “No Depression” was sold to FreshGrass LLC; the company announced that in September of 2015, the music website would resume print publication to be distributed as a music magazine while at the same time maintaining its online presence.

The website is also interactive, where readers can contribute their knowledge and experiences by submitting their own articles, interviews and reviews of roots music, subject to review and acceptance by “No Depression” for publication.

The Southern Fried Festival takes place the weekend of July 30 – August 2, 2015, in Perth, Scotland. The musical events take place at Perth Theatre, Perth Concert Hall, and local venues in the Perth area, hosting various roots and Americana acts and related events from all over the world.

Excerpt from the Southern Fried Festival webpage:

“There will be an expanded line-up of smaller gigs in city centre venues, including a free launch party in the Twa Tams on Thursday 30 July and the Southern Fried Open Mic in Greyfriars Bar on Sunday afternoon. The Southern Fried outdoor stage returns for the second year showcasing the huge range and quality of roots talent on our doorstep, Perth Playhouse will host a film programme and, as ever, the whole festival is fuelled by the famous Southern Fried soul food and served up with a warm slice of Scottish hospitality.”

The Festival is sponsored by Perth’s Horsecross Arts, comprised of Perth Theatre board members, whose main goal is to manage and coordinate events and programmes at Perth Theatre, Perth Concert Hall, Threshold Artspace and at various venues throughout Perth during Horsecross Arts-sponsored festivals and events.
